YEAR 2

As we come to the end of a busy term, I would like to congratulate all the students on their hard work and positive attitudes towards learning. I would also like to thank the parents, grandparents and helpers for their support.

What we learnt this term?

Literacy: In Literacy, Year 2 have been learning how to write a recount and an information report. Most of the students are familiar with the format and language features of both the text types we have covered in term 1. In Grammar, they learnt about nouns, pronouns, verbs and basic punctuation marks.

Numeracy: We have been practising addition with trading, number patterns, telling time from an analogue clock and measuring the length of objects using informal units of measurement.

Integrated Studies: Year 2 students explored the local history of Shepparton and Mooroopna through a very interesting excursion to Mooroopna Museum and Gallery.

They also learnt the history of some important historical sites in Australia and how changes in technology affected our daily lives.

Apart from the classroom learning, Year 2 students had a chance to be part of the ‘Brave Hearts’ incursion. They learnt how to stay safe and what to do in an unsafe situation.

Everyone looked amazing in their traditional clothing on Harmony Day (Friday 22nd March) and relished yummy food at the picnic later that afternoon. Thanks to all the parents who provided food for sharing and participated in the celebration.

Wish you all a safe and enjoyable holidays!
